FootballBudding Referees

Sandringham Soccer Club’s Budding Referee program is in its 18th year of operation having been established by club legend Tom in 2002.

The program is for male and female soccer players aged 12-16 and provides them with training to referee U8 to U11 Miniroos Sandringham home games on a Saturday morning. This is a terrific way for junior players to acquire refereeing skills and confidence in real game situations. Many of our former “Budding Refs” have gone on to become official FFV referees.

Each year we ask our U12-U15 players for volunteers to join this fantastic program. Training is given to all Budding Refs in whistleblowing and calls to ensure they are all game ready by the start of the season.

Ongoing assistance is provided throughout the season and refresher training is given if required. Budding Refs are to wear black shorts and socks and the club will supply a whistle and Budding Ref shirt.

We value our Budding Ref program which many other Clubs have since adopted. Sandringham Soccer Club will not tolerate any abuse or intimidation of any of our Budding Refs.
